WeChat Hong Kong Wallet Joins Yangchengtong to Enhance Travel Experience

Recently, WeChat Pay HK, the WeChat Hong Kong Wallet, has joined hands with Yangchengtong to enhance the travel experience of Hong Kong people going north, supporting Hong Kong people to choose to bind WeChat Hong Kong Wallet to pay conveniently in Hong Kong Dollars when opening a ride code in the WeChat app and APP of Yangchengtong, which makes it more convenient for Hong Kong residents to travel to Guangzhou and Foshan.

When users scan the code to take public transportation such as Guangzhou Metro including Guangfo Line and APM Line, buses including BRT, water buses and streetcars, etc., they can conveniently pay by using Hong Kong Dollar change from WeChat Hong Kong Wallet, bonded Hong Kong credit cards or bank accounts, and the fare will be automatically converted to Hong Kong Dollar at a preferential exchange rate. It is understood that WeChat Hong Kong Wallet is the first cross-border e-wallet that supports the Guangzhou Metro contract for secret-free payment.

In addition, users can also take the metro and buses in Foshan City through the Yang Cheng Tong ride code to conveniently tour the scenery of the Greater Bay Area. On the basis of this cooperation with Yangcheng Tong, WeChat Hong Kong Wallet will gradually support public transportation applets and APP bindings in more cities, and Guangzhou Metro APP and Guangzhou Metro Public Transportation Code WeChat applets will also be supported one after another in the near future.

Hong Kong people continue to travel northward for consumption. According to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, the cumulative number of Hong Kong people traveling northward reached 5.35 million in October, a record high for a single month, with more than 200,000 Hong Kong people traveling northward every weekend. The Greater Bay Area cities are the key areas for Hong Kong people to go north, of which Guangzhou and Foshan are popular short-term travel destinations. The cooperation between WeChat Hong Kong Wallet and Yangcheng Pass will further enhance the convenience of Hong Kong people traveling in the Mainland.

Since the full resumption of customs clearance this year, the number of offline transactions of WeChat Hong Kong Wallet has shown a high level of growth in every month and quarter.
