McAfee finds 43 malicious apps in Google Play

Cell phone virus worsens power consumption of cell phones, 43 Apps with malicious adware 2.5 million people have been hit! |Don't think it's safe to download apps from the official Apple/Android platform, 43 apps with malware were recently found on Google Play. Although they didn't invade users' cell phones to steal their wallets this time, they actually overheated the downloaded cell phones, and even affected the battery consumption.

McAfee, an antivirus software company, has discovered 43 malicious apps in Google Play, which are packaged with features such as audio and video players, music downloads, news, and so on, to hide malicious systems. This time, these apps are not stealing from users' wallets, but are loading advertisements behind the phone when the screen is turned off, without users' permission, in order to generate advertisement profits in the apps.

In-app advertising is a mechanism that exists in many free apps, whereby ads are viewed in exchange for free access, but are not normally placed in the background without authorization. mcAfee found that these 43 malicious apps come with a hidden mechanism, which allows ads to be hidden from users. As a result, these apps have been downloaded more than 2.5 million times globally. Although the 43 apps have been removed from the shelves, it is recommended to delete them immediately if you have already downloaded them.

There is no wallet theft or leakage of personal information, so some users may not think it's a big problem. However, McAfee points out that these advertisements will take up a lot of CPU resources and overheat the phone's battery, which will gradually affect the battery life, and may even lead to the problem of the phone flickering, so you have to delete them as soon as possible if you have downloaded them.
